Caught With His Hand In The Constitutional Cookie Jar

Arizona’s “Toughest Sheriff” is at it again.  A federal judge ruled that Joe Arpaio, the sheriff who loves to see his prisoners suffer in pink underwear and live in tents, must cease any discriminatory racial profiling in his officers’ operating procedures.  The sheriff believes he has done no wrong and feels that his policies of tough law enforcement on immigration laws are justified; however, immigration rights activists such as the ACLU believe that Arpaio and his practices are an outright example of racial profiling, and presented clear evidence of this during civil trials.

Arpaio’s actions against Latinos in Arizona are blatant examples of racial profiling.  I agree with the court’s ruling that Arpaio and his officers violated the Fourth Amendment (Search & Seizure) and the Fourteenth Amendment (Equal Protection).  Arpaio and his minions made a habit of searching and detaining Latinos unreasonably, and it is disturbing that Arpaio still openly claims he will pursue illegal immigrants.  What a weird guy.  Arpaio fails to realize that he is part of a failed system that should be sent through the shredder.  Lawmen like Arpaio have no place in a world where their main ego is driven through extreme nationalism, with no place settings for the minorities who launched pivotal moments of change in history that led to more inclusive civil rights.
